Suffolk AHRC’s Supported Work Program is the answer to finding prescreened, skilled and highly motivated employees who become valuable members of your stable workforce. For more than 20 years we have been successfully placing adults with developmental disabilities in a wide variety of competitive jobs and training them at the job site. YAI/NIPD’s Long Island Employment Services provides a range of employment services for adults with mental retardation and developmental and learning disabilities. The Supported Work and Training (SWAT) Program places and trains adults with mental retardation, developmental and learning disabilities in integrated employment throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties. The Pre-Vocational Program provides supervised work related and community experiences for adults with mental retardation and developmental disabilities. The participants in both programs perform work in a variety of settings, including, among others: custodial, groundskeeping, clerical, materials handling, food service, retail, production, and warehouse/stock.
