New York State Honors Employers During National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) — October 2009

Susan Somerville, Executive Director of North Shore University Hospital keynoted the 24th annual National Disability Employment Awareness Month celebration at Carlyle On-the-Green in Bethpage. As executive director, she is responsible for the daily operations of an 859-bed facility that supports approximately 2700 specialist and sub-specialist physicians, clinical service lines and corresponding support staff. In her speech, Somerville likened a hospital to a city with its vast array of jobs and many opportunities for growth. Disability is a familiar concept to Somerville who has a child with cerebral palsy.
Two hundred and fifty businesses, guests, and individuals with disabilities celebrated the event. Main sponsors of the event were: Rosicki, Rosicki & Associates, p.c. and Telephonics.
